2. 1.What cookies are

   Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit our website (cars23.io) or use our mobile applications. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage and device identifiers — serve the same purposes and are covered by this policy wherever it refers to cookies.
   
   This policy explains which categories we use and how you control them. How we process the resulting personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

3. 2.Categories we use

   CARS23 uses three categories of cookies and no others:

   • Strictly necessary — required to operate the platform: keeping you signed in, maintaining your session, routing you to the correct locale, and security measures such as protection against automated abuse. These cannot be switched off, because without them the service does not function.
   • Preferences — remember choices you have made: language, country, and interface settings such as which navigation groups you left open.
   • Analytics — measure how the platform is used so we can improve performance. These run in GDPR-compliant mode with anonymised IP addresses, and are set only with your consent.

   We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not sell data collected through them.

4. 3.Legal basis

   Strictly necessary cookies are set on the basis of § 25 (2) TTDSG, because they are required to provide a service you have expressly requested. Preference and analytics cookies are set only with your consent under § 25 (1) TTDSG and Art. 6 (1) a GDPR. You may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future.

5. 4.How long they last

   Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them: preference cookies for up to 12 months, analytics cookies for up to 14 months. Strictly necessary session and security cookies last no longer than the session they protect.

6. 5.Managing your choices

   You can control cookies in three ways:

   • Change your consent for preference and analytics cookies at any time.
   • Manage or delete cookies in your browser or device settings. Every major browser allows you to block or remove them.
   • Withdraw consent by writing to service@cars23.io.

   Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in and using the platform. Blocking the other two categories does not restrict access.

   We update this policy when the cookies we use change. The version date at the top of this page tells you which version is currently in force.
